Debbie Brown recently was honored as the recipient of TRC's Agency-Wide Staff Appreciation Award for the first quarter of 2011.

Debbie, the Director of Day Services, was nominated by her supervisory staff in recognition of the support she gives them, the innovative way she runs the Day Habilitation Programs and her dedication to the Day Hab participants.  Debbie also was congratulated for her efforts in improving her department's financial position.

Her accomplishments were applauded during a luncheon May 17 at TRC's Administrative Offices on Dunham Avenue.  Executive Director Paul Cesana noted that Debbie continually develops new ways of doing things, particularly enabling Day Hab participants to have opportunities for integration.

"Debbie has done an absolutely outstanding job to make sure our consumers are connected with the community," Paul said.

Others also praised Debbie's efforts.

"I think it's quite fitting that Debbie's team has recognized her, because that's what sets her apart — involving her team," said Denise Jones, Chief Operating Officer.  "They trust and respect her."

"Thanks for empowering staff to try new things," said Virginia Vath, Assistant Executive Director for Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement and Staff Training.

"We have gained a lot by having you here for 30 years.  Your new initiatives are absolutely incredible," said Nancy Ingram, Assistant Executive Director for Service Operations, referencing the Creations arts initiative and the Riverwalk Community Labyrinth.

"You display exemplary leadership skills and are an inspiration to all staff," said Tony Prinzi, Assistant Executive Director for Labor Relations, who oversees the Staff Appreciation Program.

Dr. Harry Glatz, a member of TRC's Board of Directors, told Debbie he appreciates the concern she demonstrates for his son Bruce, who receives Day Hab supports.

"I have sensed the love between you and the clients.  That is so important," Harry told Debbie.

"I'm proud to be part of Day Services and The Resource Center," Debbie said.  "If we open some opportunities for the people we work with, they can do some amazing things."
