The Resource Center holds its Annual Meeting

Michael Metzger was reelected President of The Resource Center's Board of Directors at the agency's Annual Meeting, held June 13 at TRC's facility on Lake Shore Drive in Dunkirk.

Mike was elected to his third consecutive one-year term as President.  Also reelected as Board Officers for 2011-12 were Todd Jacobson, M.D., Vice President; R. Michael Goldman, Esq., Secretary; and Marie Carrubba, Esq., Treasurer.

Reelected to two-year Board terms were Richard Davies, William Haenggi, Katie Smith, and Beverly Swanson.  Also elected to the Board was newcomer Kathleen Gradel, Ed.D.

Elected to serve on the Nominating Committee for the 2012 Election were Laura Felice, Phyllis Jones, Richard Koerner, and Jeanette Ostrom.

Outgoing Board member Randy Brown was recognized for his years of service.  Randy, who had served on the Board since 2005, was given a plaque, as well as a painting made by a man who participates in TRC’s “Creations” art program.

Michael Felice, who recently stepped down as Chair of TRC Foundation’s Board of Directors after a seven-year stint, was given a plaque, and a painting created by his daughter Jennifer in the Occupational Therapy Program at TRC’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center in Jamestown.  Mike remains on the TRC Foundation Board.

The meeting began with a presentation by Tess Kerzner, TRC’s Children’s Services Coordinator, and three women who participate in TRC’s monthly Parents for Parents support group meetings: Board member Julie McCarthy, Michelle Tingue and Joan Yost.  Julie, Michelle and Joan are mothers of people with disabilities of varying ages, and they told how the support group has benefited them as parents.

Mike Metzger ran the meeting.  He and Executive Director Paul Cesana gave overviews of the agency's significant accomplishments during the past year.  Jim Chimenti, who serves on the Board’s Finance Committee, gave the Treasurer's report.

Randy Ordines, TRC Foundation's Board Chair, summed up the Foundation's grant activities from the past year.

The meeting included the annual "Legacy of Love" recognition of donors who, during the previous calendar year, reached milestone levels of cumulative contributions to The Resource Center and TRC Foundation.  Recognized were:

Contributors at the $10,000 level and higher were given a plaque, and a painting mase by a Creations artist.  Those at the $5,000 level each was given a plaque, while the $1,000 honorees each received a framed certificate.
