Michael Metzger was reelected President of The Resource Center's Board of Directors at the agency's Annual Meeting, held June 14 in TRC's Conference Center on Dunham Avenue.

Mike was elected to his second one-year term as President.  Also elected as Board Officers for 2010-11 were Todd Jacobson, M.D., elected to his second consecutive term as Vice President; R. Michael Goldman, Esq., who was elected Secretary; and Marie Carrubba, Esq., a former Board member (serving as President from 1997-2000) who returns to the Board as Treasurer.

Reelected to two-year Board terms were James Chimenti; Harry Glatz, D.D.S.; Wayne Hotelling; Carole Johnson; and Patrick Kennedy.  Also elected to the Board was newcomer Zoe Fellows.

Elected to serve on the Nominating Committee for the 2011 Election were Laura Felice, Elaine Hotelling, the Reverend Timothy Hoyer, Phyllis Jones, Richard Koerner, and Julie McCarthy.

Outgoing Board members Carol Lorenc and Barbara Stewart were recognized for their years of service.  Carol, who had served on the Board since 2000 and was President from 2006-2009, was given a plaque and a ceramic bowl made by a woman who participates in TRC's Day Habilitation Program on Lake Shore Drive in Dunkirk.  Barb, who had served on the Board since 2003, was given a plaque and a painting created by her son Jeffrey, who participates in the Day Hab Program on Fluvanna Avenue in Jamestown.

The meeting began with entertainment provided by individuals who participate in the "Alternatives" Day Hab Program at the Michael J. Raymond Center on Jones & Gifford Avenue.  Thanks to a grant from TRC Foundation, the individuals have been taking drama classes taught by community member Patty Barnes.  The individuals have been rehearsing selections from the musical "Grease" and performed a couple of selections at the meeting.  A number of employees, service recipients and family members came to the meeting to see the performance, and they gave the group a rousing round of applause

Nancy Ingram (Assistant Executive Director for Service Operations) and Heather Brown (Director of Individualized Services, Article 16 Clinic and New Vision Services, Inc.) gave a presentation on TRC's evolving efforts to give individuals with disabilities greater opportunities to lead meaningful lives through the "Life, Not a Program" initiative.  Heather shared examples of several individuals with whom TRC is working to provide innovative services centered around their interests.

Mike Metzger was unable to attend the meeting, so Dr. Jacobson ran the proceedings.  He and Executive Director Paul Cesana gave overviews of the agency's significant accomplishments during the past year.  Carol Lorenc gave the Treasurer's report.

Michael Felice, TRC Foundation's Board Chair, summed up the Foundation's grant activities from the past year.  Mike also thanked Carol for her efforts on behalf of the Foundation, noting that she was one of the people involved in creating TRC Foundation in 1995.
