Persons with disabilities who have made significant accomplishments within the past year, as well as community entities that have supported those who are disabled, will be honored at the 22nd annual Disability Awareness Awards Celebration.

Please come and pay tribute to the honorees during the event, which will be held Wednesday, October 20, at the Dunkirk Moose Lodge, 296 Lake Shore Drive West.  The buffet dinner begins at 6:30, with the awards presentation beginning immediately afterwards.

A group of area professionals served on this year’s Selection Committee.  After considering the nominations, the following were selected recipients of this year’s Disability Awareness Awards:

Advocate of the Year – Marcos Figueroa
Allied Industries Customer of the Year – United States Marine Corps
Bruce Walford Community Service Award – Claire Tomassini
Community Support Award – Greystone Nature Preserve
Employer of the Year – Stratus Building Solutions
Health Provider of the Year – Dr. John Vona
Carl Cappa Humanitarian of the Year - Bill Brothers
Edwin W. Roth Mental Health Award – Kristy Lauer
Outstanding Achievement – Tristan Wassman
Personal Success – Chris Davis
Elmer J. Muench Volunteer of the Year – Laura & Mike Felice; Joann Titus; Joan & Don Yost
Lifetime Achievement – Dr. Harry Glatz

We also will be honoring Janice Hanley, who was TRC’s recipient of a 2010 Outstanding Performer Award from New York State Industries for the Disabled. 

Dr. Harry Glatz, a longtime member of The Resource Center’s Board of Directors, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Awards Celebration is being sponsored by The Resource Center and TRC Foundation.  Tickets are $25 each.  Reservations are requested by Friday, October 15.  Click here to make a reservation online.
